Fighting Time - God's Way

I recently heard a Sunday message where my pastor said that no leader is there by accident. Our place is not to get them out but to obey God. We should try to dwell in peace so that we can continue God’s work.  These men are in power because God allows it. Christians reaction to leaders is to preach the gospel and pray for them.  Christians, in the New Testament (think Nero) didn’t lead campaigns to oust them, it’s not their place.  Sometimes we need evil men so that when we preach the gospel, ears are receptive. Jesus didn’t address the politicians, he addressed the religious leaders.

These are challenging words in times like these.    Many laws are being made, and will be made, that oppose God’s holy, Biblical standards.  But just think -  as Christians, our responsibility is to pray and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.  If we become entangled with fighting against the political laws of man in these last days, how many souls will not hear the gospel because Satan blinded us to the real spiritual battle?

Jesus’ desire is for Christians to address the sin in our country through the spiritual weapons of prayer and preaching the gospel. Political leaders can not resolve the issues in our country. That’s God’s work.

How many of us are remaining faithful in our daily prayer life, praying for our country?

When was the last time that you shared the gospel with someone?

Have you put in as much time fighting with your spiritual weapons as you’ve done with exercising your political privileges?

I'm not saying that you should not exercise your rights as a citizen - but who and what is your hope in?

If you want to grow in your Christian walk or learn what God says about running the race of life then join us for Bible Study on Sundays (9:30A, 11A & 6:45P) and Wednesdays (6:30P).

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. – 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. - Matthew 28:19-20

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ - 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. - Ephesians 6:12-13
