How to Make Yourself Attractive to Your Spouse or Spouse-to-Be

This Friday, February 1st, we continue our monthly Marriage Ministry series looking at the book of Solomon. These seminars are for premarital couples and newlyweds to long-married couples. Whether your marriage is in great shape or needs some fine tuning, everyone can benefit.

What makes a wife think highly of her husband?  According to the Song of Solomon 1:3, we learned that the character of a man, his reputation of honesty and integrity, a man who keeps his word, causes a wife to be attracted to her husband. In verse 4, the bride states that his reputation is good and well-deserved, others are right about him!

Your oils have a pleasing fragrance,
Your name is like purified oil;
 therefore the maidens love you. - Song of Solomon 1:3

When a wife feels protected, secure and loved, she can rest in the shadow of the tree that he is.

Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest,
 so is my beloved among the young men.
In his shade I took great delight and sat down,
 and his fruit was sweet to my taste. - Song of Solomon 2:3

The husband describes his wife as being beautiful, she treats him with respect.
A man looks for a wife to show him respect, reverence and regard.

How beautiful you are, my darling,
 How beautiful you are!
 Your eyes are like doves. - Song of Solomon 1:15

However, let each man of you [without exception] love his wife as [being in a sense] his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly]. Ephesians 5:33 Amplified Bible
